Without reference to this specific incident, which I have no knowledge over, a lot of accidents happen that are realistically unavoidable, it's ones that could be realistically avoided that should not occur.

Vouchers won't sway a lot of agents, but operators would not hand out vouchers unless they thought it would sway many agents. Operators do not give away vouchers for no reason, and certainly not simply as a thank you or as a reward, despite what their marketing departments may say.

Large travel companies should stick to what they know and do best. The history of this is long and well documented.

The EU have invented a system, where it pays you NOT to work from an EU country and gives those being outside the EU a financial advantage. Additionally TOMS vat only applies to people going on holiday in an EU country, benefitting for example Turkey and Egypt. And yes, I have heard the other side of the story arguments but they do not correspond with the reality of real commerical life.
Lower flatter fairer simpler taxes (and with those trying to avoid their fair share of taxes vigourously hounded both publicly and legally), would be great, but politicians are terrified of trying to do this.
