Princess Cruises has confirmed that it will be building a new €600 million ship, which will enter service in late 2019.
The as-yet unnamed 143,000-ton vessel will carry 3,560 passengers and will increase Princess’ fleet to 19.
It forms part of an order by Carnival Corp to build four new ships, which it announced last week.
Princess said the vessel would be a sister ship to Royal, Regal and Majestic Princess – the latter of which will launch in 2017. It will be built by Fincantieri.
The line said the new ship would include “signature elements” of Princess Cruises’ previous vessels, including the vast central atrium hub with multiple dining, entertainment and retail venues; Movies Under the Stars outdoor cinema experience; The Sanctuary top-deck relaxation area; and the Lotus Spa.
The ship will also include new innovations that are set to be announced “in due course”.
Princess added that it would confirm the ship’s deployment at a later date.
Tony Roberts, vice president of Princess Cruises UK, said: “We’re incredibly excited to confirm that Princess Cruises’ growth continues with the order of another royal class ship.
“Demand and confidence in Princess has never been higher and we’re delighted that in just a few years’ time even more guests will get the chance to travel with us in style to over 360 destinations across the world.”
