Fire breaks out at Dublin airport

Flights to and from Dublin airport have now resumed following a fire that broke out in a hangar at around 7.30 this morning.

The blaze was in an area away from the passenger terminal, but departures and arrivals were halted as a precaution as fire tenders that would normally provide cover on the airfield were used to extinguish the blaze.

It is reported that two short-haul aircraft were in the hangar, at least one of which is operated by CityJet. There are no reports of any injuries and the blaze is now under control.

Flights were diverted to other airports or cancelled until shortly before 9am and passengers are advised to contact their carriers for the latest information.
