Carnival Cruise Lines is to return to Europe next year with its latest ship Carnival Vista.
In two events held jointly in New York and London, the line said the newest addition to its fleet would sail out of Athens and Barcelona on a variety of eight and 10-day sailings.
It is the first time Carnival has sailed in Europe since 2013. The ship will begin its season on May 1, when it sails out of Trieste.
It will also have a 12-day voyage out of Barcelona, which will be aimed specifically at the UK market.
Ports of call will include Athens, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Izmir, Corfu, Livorno (Italy), Marseilles, Messina (Sicily), Naples, Rome, Trieste and Valletta.
After spending the summer in 2016, Vista will then sail a 13-day voyage to New York.
Mark Tamis, Carnival Cruise Lines senior vice president guest operations, said Vista “truly was the greatest ship to date”.
Vista will include the first IMAX cinema at sea, as well as Carnival’s famous Red Frog pub and brewery, which will now brew beer onboard, with three different varieties available.
The line has also expanded its Havana Bar area, with a pool now included, as well as Havana Cabanas - staterooms which Tamis said were based on Cuba, and would allow guests “to connect to the ocean”.
During the day the Havana Bar pool will be solely for the use of those in Havana staterooms, but it will be opened up to other passsengers in the evening.
In addition, Vista will include a new class of staterooms designed solely for families, entitled Family Harbor. The cabins will accommodate up to five people, with access to a Family Harbor lounge.
